Historical Context
1885 is one of the historic brandy names associated with the city of Málaga and its long tradition of producing wines and spirits.
Originally developed by López Hermanos, the brand was created as a premium Gran Reserva brandy, distilled from selected wine spirits and matured in oak casks. Its name pays tribute to the year 1885, a significant date in the history of the company and the Málaga wine trade.
Over the years, ownership and production evolved, but the brand maintained its identity as a traditional Málaga Gran Reserva, appreciated for its smooth texture, aromatic richness and balanced character.
Unlike many modern commercial brandies, historic bottlings of 1885 were produced in relatively limited quantities and were closely linked to Málaga’s local wine and spirit heritage.
